    Golden-hued memories
    of fading love
    still warm in my hands,
    the photos in soft focus
    and full of sparkling light.

    Soft breezes on sun-kissed skin,
    old music on the radio
as we look out at the blue horizon
shaded by palms along the beach--
    a Dean Martin sunset
    in Kodachrome splendor.

    Your small hand
    held tightly in mine
    as we walk on clouds
    seeing only each other
    a timeless moment
    that slips away too fast.

Memories of a future not yet here,
of things as they should be,
    the way we should be
though my own shadow frightens me--
    what more the days ahead?

    The weight of necessity,
    the burden of waiting
    and being too far away
    is so heavy,
    hope is battered
    yet still alive.

    Even as I sink
    into restless sleep,
    forever traveling alone
    from one nightmare to another
    your love is there
    guiding me home
    to the tender promise
    of your waiting arms.

    Some days I can't breathe,
    but it's all right--
    I'll carry on always
and smile when I think of you.

Inspired by Patsy Cline's song, Faded Love. For my Juliet...mahal kita ng sobra aking magandang asawa.
