I am going to try and get the courage to call a counselor a friend suggested. It will probably be a waste of time, because I have no insurance and not much money so if she want work with me as far as money goes I guess I am screwed. Anyway I was just wondering if you come out and tell a counselor that you want to die will she like commit you to a hospital or something.

Dont see why you should be comited if you are having thoughts only. If you have means and think of acting on it, the councellor might refer you to a psichiatra for evalutation tho. Feel free to discuss your financial problems as the concellor might refer you to someone who can follow you for free.

good luck and let us know how it went

I doubt that you will get committed, you're much more likely to get committed if you act on those thoughts. Good luck with it, I hope it goes well :)

I hope this person will work with me as far as the money situation. A friend recommened me to this person, and what is funny is if you attend the church the counselor goes to she will treat you for free.

Here in Florida, therapists are bound by law to report you if you tell them you have a plan and are thinking of useing it. They also will work on a sliding payscale. If you have to go to the hospital don't fear it isn't that bad. For the most part they are very helpful and the floor techs will listen to you if you need to talk to someone or one of the nurses will listen to you also. Check around for facilities you can go to because you don't have the money. We Have a place called ACT here who takes all the people with no insurance. They will help you get thru your crisis and set you up with a shrink or nurse practitioner to help control the meds they put you on. I hope you get the help you need!~Joseph~
