Hello, my cousin is in Iraq right now on his third tour. has 233 days left. Well he writes a ton of poetry, a lot of it is really good. Well i asked his permission to start posting some of it. So here is one for now. :) just wanted to share it with people.

    The Traveler

    A swift wind from afar,
    ushering in the traveler
    Guided by the stars.
    He stands so broad
In the darkness of the night,
    Searching the black sky
    For a glint of light.
All around this traveler from afar,
Twinkles the rhythm of the celestial ball.
    A heartbeat of a world
    Pulls the traveler awirl
    Does the rhythm always sway,
Yet it will stop some day.
With his face so dim as night
    And swiftly fighting fright,
The traveler moves on across the hills.
Across the rhythm so silent and still.
What an odd place to see
    How quiet and free
Smirks the sun coming over the trees.

here is another :). he wrote this for a girl who's boyfriend beat her because she wasn't pretty enough for him.

Its not in what you look like.
    Its in who “YOU ARE”.
Beyond the surface, the epidermis of your heart.
That broken puzzle of never ending tears.
That mask of somber sadness screaming out your fears.
    Do not close your eyes.
    Do not fade away.
    The sun is still shining.
In the midst of this sky so gray.
I see you there, fallen into that ocean of glass.
Don't worry my child it was a gift, a test, and you passed.
    Should I cry with you?
    Understand your pain?
Or mend your bleeding heart, without a once of shame.
I'm reaching out my hand to you.
    But will you take hold.
Forget that sackcloth veil of malice, and everything you were told.
    Your heart is beautiful.
    I shun that voice within.
The darkness knows nothing of the price I payed for your sins.
    Ive been here all along.
A silent whisper in the dark.
You may not hear me, amongst your busy day.
But let your ears not stray from what I have to say.
    The skies are clear.
    Ive slain your fear.
    You are free this day!!!
