It seems like there are certain trends in congnitive distortion. One is tunnel vision. There's only one way out, which is suicide. Another is "all or nothing thinking". Nothing is good enough for me. Either it's all good or all bad. Catastophizing means that your life is a total failure, thus deserving killing yourself. Intellectualizing is what I do. I rationalize my thoughts and behavior and find an excuse for it. There are many others, but these few are some common ones.
