You are completely changing the use of a room. It will have multiple furniture items. Do you:

  • Have a guess and hope it all fits the way you want

  • Measure the room and roughly calculate whether the furniture fits the way you want

  • Measure the room and create a scale diagram/drawing to make sure the furniture fits the way you want

Obviously the scale drawing (or preferably a model so you can see it from all angles). Not only is it the only way you can be sure not to make expensive mistakes with your purchases but you can colour coordinate it too and make it look pretty.

Fun answer: Measure the room; toss out all the old furniture; spend a fortune on cool new stuff (can be used retro if you’re into that) and have a blast repurposing the space.

Practical answer: Measure the room and repurpose it with items you have. Replace things only if you must. But still have a blast repurposing the place! :)
