Nightmares

I orginally posted this on the rape and abuse part of the forum, but i had no luck with a reply, so i have decided to repost the problem here...


I was abused as a child, and I keep having nightmares that I am getting abused or raped..

the thing is, some times it is not even the person who abused me to start off with...

it can be total strangers who i see through out the day in the street. R some times the attacker doesnt even have a face.. they are just there attacking me.

What does this mean?


Can any one help?

Hard to say what this dream means Janey. My guess is that it's just your unconscious mind acting out these violent sex acts in your dreams. Why this might be happening? Hard to say. I wouldn't worry too much about it though. Maybe a combination of being abused as a child and being a sex addict has contributed to this? :unsure:

I have a session with my pysc today. i am going to try and bring this problem up with him. see what he says.

these dreams are really getting to me. i wake up wanting to die

Still having Nightmares...
Not so much about abuse or rape any more (i still have these when i'm at my lowest)
but about other things.
I have nightmares that I'm getting attacked by 'strangers' (they have no faces so i dont know who it is)
The thing is its not just me gettin attacked.. its my family members to. the dreams are so real that some times i have to ring the people in the dream to make sure they are ok. I cant go on being like this. I'm a nervous reck.
I have trouble getting to sleep bcoz i worry about things, and then i begin to worry incase i have nightmares. and most nights i do have bad dreams.
Its really bad now.
I'm often just layed there in bed wide awake at about 2-3am! and then i cant get to college in the morning bcoz i lie in.

Is there any sort of threatment around to help with this other than sleeping pills?

I'm not entirely sure what you can do. I think you should try sleeping pills for a few days. You don't need to not have the nightmares, you need to not wake up afterwards, so you can't remember them. If you can get in a pattern of sleeping through them, you might be able to avoid them consciously altogether.
