    No Comfort For Old Men

The whole day lies ahead of me,
    but already I am tired
    from looking out, watching,
    waiting for salvation
    that never comes.

    The malaise of the ancient
    and forgotten,
    the lethargy of old age
    and the resigned gazes
    of the elderly
    who know intimately
    the evanescence of time,
    and how it grows short.

    Strange qualities,
    and stranger to observe
    them in myself,
    so jaded and cynical--
    so resigned to the
    melancholy fate at the end
    of the broken road.

    The throbbing of the heart
    slowing with each day,
    dying from birth
doomed to the fate of all mankind,
    filling me with dread--
    the final insult of mortality
    that I hold in contempt.

I can hear the creeping doom
in the sigh of the wind,
    feel the drag of time
    in the dead of night,
    my troubled sleep a harbinger
    of the horror that awaits.
    My hope is the desperation
    borne of too many questions,
    too few answers.

Why have you forsaken me? I plead.
Take this cup from me! I beg,
and silence is my only answer.

[Not sure I'm done with this one, but this is the raw copy of it]

Thnx for just making me feel so much older than I already am! Seriously though, you obviously know language and have developed a unique style in putting it together to form prose.
