  1. Not Another Love Poem (!)

    :wallbash:

    Oh no!
    Not again!
    From frying pan to fire
    we keep leaping in,
with idealism, and heart, worn on sleeve,
    before the illusion inevitably leaves…

    “I’ve been so lonely!”
    They’re the “One and Only!”
    “Falling for” a naïve belief
    Call me jaded,
    I just laugh,
    and with much relief
    That’s after I’ve cringed
    at love poems' many epitaphs
(conceding I’ve suffered my own aftermaths)

Yes, I may be jaded after all
but I much prefer it to “the fall”
I’d rather go in with eyes open wide
and preparing for what I may there find,
    for there’s forever more
    than meets the eye ~
There’s far less shown than what they hide

    No one is perfect
    but we embrace this lie,
We never learn from the past,
    but onward deny it…
    No wonder it’s said
    that love is blind!
    For, best behaviour
    soon shall waver,
    with or without urging
    So I’ve learned to rejoice
    at having a choice
in being a “Born Again Virgin”!
