    ive seen and read some posts on how and why people cut themselves, but when i get angry and out of control i usually hit myself in the head. would that be considered self harming?

    I think that would still be considered self harm, because you are deliberately causing pain to yourself. I think there's pretty vast definitions of self harm, but mostly it just comes down to inflicting pain upon yourself.

    I think the definitions vary slightly depending on where you are in the world - here in the UK SH normally refers to cutting, with hitting etc being described under the broader umbrella term of self-injury.

    However, it depends on what/where you read.

    Personally, i'd say what is more important is intention - if you are intentionally hurting yourself, then yes, it would most likely be classed as a form of self-injury.
