Now what?

Sorry about the title, I didn't know what to put.

Some of you might know, I've been assaulted some years ago. And now it's all been brought back and I'm scared to death.
You see, there's another student home about 5 mins away from here, and I pass it every time I have to do the groceries, or go to any other shop really as it's on the road towards the town where all stores are. (our town is so small it doesn't have any stores or anything at all).
And at the beginning of this week a new girl moved into our house. She used to live in the other student home but left there. Today I found out why; the landlord from the other house raped her. And apparently he has assaulted other girls as well.
I fucking got a ride from him once, with his horse and wagon.

It's brought everything back. And I'm scared.
He passes our house at least once a week with the horse and wagon. I have to go past the other student home to do groceries and anything really.

How can I ever sleep easily again? Supposedly he is angry at the girl who just moved into our house, cos she told her parents, boss and some house mates about what had happened, and she moved out immediately. Some of the people who still live there want to move out now as well... What if he finds out the girl lives here now?

:hug: that sounds awful- to have those memories bought up can be really traumatic and scary.

Seeing as this girl has let a lot of people know, I don't think it'd be likely he'd try to do anything and get into your student home to get her, if you're worried that might happen. If that did happen, everyone would know who he'd be...It's understandable he's angry- she screamed and let everyone know.

In situations where I'm getting flashbacks I try my very best to keep myself from the places where I'm getting triggered- if this girl is triggering you then maybe it'd be helpful to keep your distance from her. You come first here.

As for grocery shopping- when you go past that student home, do you think it'd be possible for him to attack you or get you on the street, in full view?

He sounds very dangerous though, seeing as he's repeatedly been doing this to other girls. It's horrific, to think that you know what that can feel like and he's been doing that to so many other people too...

Maybe in time it'd be helpful to let the organisation overlooking student housing know as this man sounds like he shouldn't be working in such a place and is a danger to the people living where he is...

Scarey as it might be the odds of him breaking into a house full of students or abducting someone off a street is pretty damn low. Im guessing the fact he had the oppurtunity in that he could access the house is the only reason he risked the previous assaults at all.

If you really are scared I'm sure you can relate to the girl and stress to her that she needs to involve the police, talk to other victims and encourage them to do the same.

While he rents that house out all its occupants will be at risk and jails the best place for him.

I agree.

But at this moment perhaps you (Est) needs to look after yourself first... if you're going through flashbacks- and at that point, personally, I'm completely frozen with fear and I can't talk to anybody myself and am in general mess.

I just keep shaking, and everytime I hear horses I immediately look out the window scared that it's him. I know the odds of him coming into our house is really small, but I am going to make sure the door is locked whenever I'm home alone from now on. and the windows closed.
I am scared. :nerves:
And now I keep getting these flashbacks. It's making me want to go back to stuff I shouldn't go back to. :rolleyes:

I cannot stay away from the 'new girl', she's really nice. I'm trying to get her to at least report him..

Just make sure the windows and doors are locked when you go to sleep and try to avoid making contact with him if you see him on the streets.
