initial disclaimer: I'm a 'dyed in the wool' animal lover.

I have a bone to pick with the Creator: why the hell did you give the long lifespans to Homo Sordida (man the filthy) and to so few animals???  My little rat-girl Merri is up there with You now, in Your Meadow, and I know she's at peace and no longer ill or unhappy... but damn it, I would have liked more time with her here in my life, in this life. Except for a few species, animals' lifespans are too damn short. I really loved my little Merri and she loved me with every fibre of her being - something humans have a hard time doing. Animals are so good at loyalty and unconditional love - can't You give them a bit more time with us? I fall in love with my animal friends and when they are ripped away from me, even when the choice is mine to end their suffering, it hurts unbearably. When I leave this life, when You call me Home, I would ask if I could live in Your Meadow with my animals, instead of in Heaven. I love people, family and friends, but want to spend eternity with my animals. Is that too much to ask??

Aaawww Least so know how you feel. I had a wonderful guinea pig that loved me as much as I loved him. He liked to sit in my sleeve in the evenings and when I came home from work he used to run down the hall weeting loudly (weeting is that little noise they make).
Guineas only live for about 8 years, but I was blessed with 10 and he died in his sleep while lying in my arms. It's been 6 years since his passing and I still miss him

Hopefully he will be waiting for me when I pass over.

I had a little guinea pig named Davey (I've had gp's since I was young) and he lived to be eight and a half. He used to sleep next to me on the sofa, resting his little head on my arm. I couldn't stand Merri's empty cage so I went out and got a little young female rat. Named her Pip. She's already friendly, we'll make her unbelievably tame with lots of affection and attention.

well, got to go do chores...

love ya,

Well I am an atheist.... so I would not have anything that you would want to here.

But I agree that some animals are not on the planet long enough. I wish my kitty would be with me till I died or just before I died. But she can't and I have to accept that.

Ooooh Least a new rat. She will help fill the emptiness and new pets are always cool cos you have to learn their little ways and they yours.

That's one very lucky little rat.

Least,
I am sorry you were hurting and hope the new creature is fun for you (sorry I do not share your love of rats).

When I leave this life, when You call me Home, I would ask if I could live in Your Meadow with my animals, instead of in Heaven. I love people, family and friends, but want to spend eternity with my animals.

Now, IMHO we will look to an enternity of JOY and HAPINESS. Therefore, we will not separate from our animals or our family. I SO look forward to running in the meadow valley of grass with my Teri dog that went there about 2 years ago. She was 15 years old and she waited till my son was like 8 months and knew that it was allright for her to go. I have her photos up and know it will be hard to replace her.

love you
