At this time, I have been addicted to pornography for more than 20 years. Its impact on my life, health, relationships have been gradually more and more devastating, up to a point where having a normal life is unmanageable. In parallel to this, abt 12 years ago, I had a major depression in my life, and I had come at a point where i suddenly completely lost interest for eerything in life. That feeling came to me pretty suddenly, but has never left. I have done many things since then (studies, jobs, marriage, etc) but it's all mechanics, like just putting one foot after the other, not to walk and going in a direction, but just for the sake of putting a foot after the other, and following the stream of "life". Now however, my porn addiction has devastated my life so much, and i don't seem to be able to beat it, I am considering suicide. I don't want to continue to live with this addiction. The only reason why I haven't suicided yet is that i might go to Hell (I believe in God). I already thought sometimes that if I pray God regularly enough, He will (perhaps) help me, but I can't find the strength even to pray regularly enough for that. Please, if anyone has an insight to share, please tell anything, especially if you have gone through some similar experience.

Well I have never really been addicted, but try a site called Your Brain Rebalanced which may help you.

Neuroleptics might work ... Addictions are always the result of an imbalance in dopamine ( french name ) in your brain. People who are maniac fall far more easily in addictions than normal people because they have higer levels of dopamine. Medications like tiapride have been used to treat addictions to alcohol for example. Their is another medication that might work even better " baclofen " but the risk of addiction to it is high. You should just go see a doctor an explain it to him.

Impox - I KNOW there is someone who can help you hun - I saw a video presentation of his a while back, I shall try to track his details down and PM you with them. He tells his own story of addiction and now spreads the word about how others can be helped. Don't give up and DO have faith and hope that this can be overcome :)

Asking a professional might help you with your problem.

That's REALLY not the case, especially when the thread is about compulsion, not addiction...

What he needs is to re-take control of himself, establish discipline to prevent relapse and become centered so he can pursue what makes him happy... taking more drugs will only substitute a compulsion with an addiction.

Got it thru a good therapist for few years.. Changed me finally and realized there. Was a big and wholesome life and possibilities that had nothing to do with my penis!!!
