Personally, I love quotes, they can be really inspiring and give me that warm fuzzy feeling inside. :smile:

A week ago, I bought a plain hardback book which I've been filling with as many positive/inspiring quotes, pictures, etc. which I take everywhere with me. No-one else has to do this, but it's worth a go, I find it makes me feel better if I read it when I'm feeling particuarly down/suicidal.

Anyway, if you have any positive quotes you feel like sharing...Go ahead! :biggrin:

Here's a few of my favorites:

" Life can be rough sometimes but always look for the diamond in the rough. Always take that one extra step, that one last push...just hang in there, don't give up."
~Dinah Hanson

" Live with your talents, not with your weaknesses."
~Mansi Arora

" I love the light because it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness for it shows me the stars."
~Og Mandino

"The chances are that you have already come to believe that happiness is unattainable. But men have attained it. And they have attained it by realising that happiness does not spring from the procuring of physical or mental pleasure, but from the development of reason and the adjustment of conduct to principles."
~Arnold Bennett

"Never allow anyone to rain on your parade and thus cast a pall of gloom and defeat on the entire day. Remember that no talent, no self-denial, no brains, no character, are required to set up in the fault-finding business. Nothing external can have any power over you unless you permit it. Your time is too precious to be sacrificed in wasted days combating the menial forces of hate, jealously, and envy. Guard your fragile life carefully. Only God can shape a flower, but any foolish child can pull it to pieces."
~Og Mandino

Action may not always bring happiness; but there is no happiness without action.
~Benjamin Disraeli

A man who trims himself to suit everybody will soon whittle himself away.
~ Charles M Schwab

The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you're willing to work.
~ Oprah Winfrey

Every time you state what you want or believe, you're the first to hear it. It's a message to both you and others about what you think is possible. Don't put a ceiling on yourself.
~ Oprah Winfrey

To enjoy good health, to bring true happiness to one's family, to bring peace to all, one must first discipline and control one's own mind. If a man can control his mind he can find the way to Enlightenment, and all wisdom and virtue will naturally come to him.
~ Buddha

You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.
~ Buddha

Never again clutter your days or nights with so many menial and unimportant things that you have no time to accept a real challenge when it comes along. This applies to play as well as work. A day merely survived is no cause for celebration. You are not here to fritter away your precious hours when you have the ability to accomplish so much by making a slight change in your routine. No more busy work. No more hiding from success. Leave time, leave space, to grow. Now. Now! Not tomorrow!
Og Mandino (1923 - 1996)

Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go... And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over.
Gloria Naylor

If you have made mistakes, even serious ones, there is always another chance for you. What we call failure is not the falling down but the staying down.
Mary Pickford (1893 - 1979)

One must not lose desires. They are mighty stimulants to creativeness, to love, and to long life.
Alexander A. Bogomoletz

For everything there is a season,
And a time for every matter under heaven:
A time to be born, and a time to die;
A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
A time to break down, and a time to build up;
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn, and a time to dance;
A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;
A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
A time to keep, and a time to throw away;
A time to tear, and a time to sew;
A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
A time to love, and a time to hate,
A time for war, and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

The fellow is either mad or he is composing verses...

"Veni, Vidi, Dormivi."
I came, I saw, I slept.

"Maybe thats what hell is. You go mad, and all your demons come and get you just as fast as you can think them up.”

“You'll sing a song of victory, eternally, though there is none to be had.”

“The only pain in pleasure is the pleasure of the pain.”

“I know nothing of God or the Devil. I have never seen a vision nor learned a secret that would damn or save my soul.”

"I've studied now, to my regret,
Philosophy, Law, Medicine,
and - what is worse - Theology
from end to end with diligence.
Yet here I am, a wretched fool
an still no wiser than before."

"Intelligence and proper sense
need little art to be expressed;
if you have something you really want to say,
is there a need to hunt for words?"

"So even Hell is bound by laws?
I like your implication that one could
safely make contracts with [the devil]!"

"This crown to crown the laughing man,
this rose-wreath crown:
I myself have set this crown upon my head,
I myself have pronounced my laughter holy"

"The paradox is really the pathos of intellectual life
and just as only great souls are exposed to passions,
it is only the great thinker who is exposed to what I call paradoxes,
which are nothing else than grandiose thoughts in embryo"

(Søren Kierkegaard)

"Our life is frittered away by detail. Simplify, simplify."

"If you would convince a man that he does wrong, do right. Men will believe what they see."

"How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live."

"Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of much life. Aim above morality. Be not simply good; be good for something."
