Restarting life

    I would fall in love with everyone who could paste some links with advices on how to "restart" life. :biggrin:

    My problem is self destruction. In past 3 years I went through self harm, smoking, drug abuse (mostly weed), sleeping less than 4 hours and eating unhealthy. I do also have minor, but "chronic" weight problems.

    I haven't cut for months and i this month it's 1st anniversary of giving up weed.

    Lately I have already improve some things to some point, like sleeping more and eating healthier but there is still SOOOO much to do, so good sites could be helpful.

    One thing I have found beneficial is finding self worth, and learning to love yourself.
    Sounds cheesy and cliche but it has helped me immensely.

    I literally just googled it and followed as much of the advice as possible. I wrote down a few 'mantras' blew them up, printed them, stuck them around my room. I read and repeat first thing in the morning as I wake up and I let it sink in, I say it to myself not as something I am just reading but as something I'm trying to make stick and something I know I NEED to believe.

    Work is another huge thing, just feeling like you have that sense of purpose and something you are out there and doing in the world. I'm not sure if you are working or studying right now but if you can get back into it that'd be a massive help.

    Hobbies. Movies, TV, Gaming, Exercise, Learning something new, making new friends etc. anything that keeps your head away from drugs, smoking, alcohol and self harming gets a double thumbs up. I'm always told "keep yourself busy, keep your mind ticking over and keep it happy" and those things really do that. :)

    I am student and your advice is true. This year i had very good marks and I manage to found out that I am more educated than average teen, so my self esteem about my abilities is finally normal; but the problem is that i think that i'm ugly. But losing some weight in healthy way and socialising more could help me.

    Id be glad to help you with your weightloss/healthy eating, what is your diet looking like right now? Also are you doing any type of exercise? Having a goal and attaining it not only helps your self image but it will certainly help your overall self esteem too. :hug:

    My main problem is that I don't eat enough various food. Now, after i started eating vegetables and fruits, i eat quite healthy, but still not enough various...

    And i'm not on the diet right... first i have to stop smoking, which will probably happen very soon. :)

    Thanks for offering help.

    I am actually mostly searching for ideas for various vegetarian food, that doesn't take 5 hours to cook. :)

    Seconding the salad.

    I also keep a bowl of fruit around for snack attacks. Plums and oranges are my favorite!

    Also invest in a blender and some protein powder. Throw in a couple of teaspoons of the power, add some grapes and orange and plum and some other fruit, top it off with a spoonful of yogurt and some low-fat milk. You'd be surprised how far an all-organic smoothie can take you in the morning. :biggrin:

    Bananas, I hear, are especially good for this, but I unfortunately can't abide the taste of banana.

    well maybe if i knew what you look like, i'd be able to prove what you think false :p
    but being a student is very stressful and i know that it causes a lot of people to go on the unhealthy side, i'm a student as well so i know that's the problem for me.
    but but but i'm glad that you stopped smoking and stopped doing weed
