Across the evening sky, all the birds are leaving
Oh but then you know, it was time for them to go
By the winter fire, I will still be dreaming
I did not count the time
For who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?
Sad, deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving
Oh, but then you know it was time for them to go
Oh, but I will still be here, I have no thought of leaving
I did not count the time
For who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?
    Instrumental
I know I'm not alone while my love is near me
I know that it's so until it's time to go
Oh the storms in winter and the birds in spring again
I did not count the time
Oh who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?
Who, who knows where the time goes?
Who knows where the time goes?

  2. They're moving lyrics to be sure...

However, since authors and artists have enough trouble laying claim to their works, often not being credited, it would have been a proper kindness to add that these came from Sandy Denny. Especially since she died in 1978 and can no longer speak up for herself...

(easy as googling to find the source...)

I'm a big Sandy Denny fan. Unfortunately, I copied and pasted too fast. Her songs always get to me, very atmospheric, moody voice. I think that she would be happy i used her lyrics for this site anyway. Her songs are our songs.
