This is the quote that inspired the following poem:

"If there is love, there is hope that one may have real families, real brotherhood, real equanimity, real peace. If the love within your mind is lost and you see other beings as enemies, then no matter how much knowledge or education or material comfort you have, only suffering and confusion will ensue"
    --the Dalai Lama

    “Severed Pain”

    Love, my tormenter and friend.
Love, always there in the end.

Love, I see you in the fire specs of night
Love, a whisper telling me it’s alright
    Love, my second sight

    Love, my continued aspiration
    Love, I show my appreciation
    Love, an unwavering continuation

    Love, you’ve severed my pain
Love, you’ve taught me no one deserves disdain
Love, a merciful mirror obscuring my gargoyle soul
    Love...forgive me my sins

Thanks for the comments. I thought it was a little sappy myself.
