Should I? Not sure... maybe...

I made a suicide threat and someone took it as a homocide threat. I got busted for aggravated menacing because I didnt make myself clear.

I am looking at a year in jail and a permanent stain on my record... maybe it is time... to really do it and stop the lip service. Monday I see the judge, if it does not ride well... then it's goodbye, the lights are going out.

when you go to court monday can you clarify things for the judge? or do you have a lawyer who can explain things for you? many years ago i also had trouble with the law. i was looking at jail time but in the end i just had to pay a fine, ahd was given a year to settle up. i understand how scared you are about what *might* happen, but you are only going to know at the moment. i'll be thinking of you and wishing you luck monday.

I am sure if you go in with a positive attitude and are polite and courtious with the judge, He will listen to what you have to say more clearly.
Let him know it was a misunderstanding and that you are sorry for letting it get out of hand. Do you see a therapist Or a shrink? If so can you get a letter from them stating you are under physc care, that he would take that in account. Good Luck..

I wish you luck in court. The judge should listen to what you have to say. Explain what happened and that the threat was actuallay against yourself, not anyone else. Be honest. Your attitude will be important. The advice given by others above is good.

You are planning for the very worst, and while you never know how the judge will rule, it's more than likely you will get off without a hefty charge. If your honesty doesn't go a long way, a lack of evidence to deny the truth will.

Just wanted you all to know I went to court and all the charges were dismissed on the grounds the accuser never showed up. While that is good, it makes me angry that someone can put you through hell emotionally to the point of suicide over something they didnt even care to show up for.

I am happy the charges were dropped, I am not happy about the emotional anguish these charges caused me or the fact that I was not given an opportunity to explain what happened before these charges were even pressed.

It is like that woman who accused all those sports players at some college a year ago of rape. She dragged their names through the mud and then when it was time to deal with the matter in court the charges were dismissed. Those kids will never be the same. Something is not right when people can do this and get away with it.
