I use to be a loud person but went into a shell because of depression and shit and I now have trouble talking much and expressing my emotions i'm also very self concious. This weekend I was with my boyfriend who is very loud and determined to bring me out of my shell. He mentioned to me that I seem stiff and tense all the time and I should just relax my muscles and flop, I never even realised until he told me I thought damn I AM tense, why? and since then I've been making a consious effort to relax my muscles in all situations and what a difference it makes! I feel far more at ease and able to express myself. Anyway give it a try! it's helped me anyway so far.
