I once grew up on a land,
that was filled with sinking sand,
The answers to many questions stayed,
    Despair molded me as clay,
Rivers of tears flooded my face,
I never wanted to live in this place,
Consumed by darkness in the light of day,
I tried to use anything to chase it away,
    They only made it worse,
I often daydreamed of the peace found in death,
The only thing I believed would end this curse,
I heard a rumor in the land,
Of one who loves me dear,
I rejected this rumor before giving it a chance,
My own suffering keeping me entranced.

Then one day I made a plan,
To escape the land of sinking sand,
I decided to accept that this was it,
There is no hope but in the pit,
As I decided to let it all go,
Of the small hope of change,
    That tiny ghost glow,
A whisper of a breeze came to my ear,
A flash of my life made everything clear,

My questions are answered by my rejection,
    towards your righteous perfection,
Your ways are the secret yearnings of my heart,
I have wanted the life you promised from the start,
I didn't learn this until I gave you a chance,
Through your Son you woke me up from the trance,
Who held me captive in the land,
That constantly sunk with sinking sand,
Now my feet are on the rock,
    Salvation is mine, but time ticks on the clock;
It's now only a matter of time,
    Before it stops.
