    Came over a website here the other day which have, in a way fascinated me:

    Especially the facts about deaths, almost 27 million so far this year, and over 500 000 suicides, which really shows we are a drop in the ocean...but cool site anyway

    Every 10 years as many people die of suicide as in the Holocaust... I don't think we're just a drop. We're comparable to what's widely accepted as the most evil act in history.

    Funny you mention that, I was thinking about the biggest mass murder in history, Auschwitz and how much attention that has gotten. And pretty much the same amount of people die from suicide every year as died in Auschwitz in total...of course not comparabl because they didnt want to die, but anyway it says a lot

    I think it says our mental health system is not working to help people who need it most i see changes happening but i wonder if it will be soon enough

    They run a prediction algorithm based on the information they've recently received, which, I assume, is then run against the average numbers to produce a ballpark estimate of where the number might be at any given time. This is then periodically adjusted for accuracy as hard data comes in. They explain the process in their faq:
