Hi, I have had insomnia ever since I was a little kid, and it usually takes me about 2 hours to get to sleep. However, every couple of months I have a period of about a week where I just don't sleep at all for the whole week, no matter how hard I try. Then after about a week it goes again.Anyone else get like this?

are you bipolar? disordered sleep is one of the main symptoms of mania.

Have you seen a doctor about the time to get to sleep? It should take no more than 30 minutes - I believe the average is 8. Until I was on Remeron it took me 2-3 hours, but upon starting to take it it was much faster, and my life improved tons.

I've often considered being bipolar before and a few people have said I could be but I've never been checked out.

Well, you should get on it. Proper treatment can improve your life tons. Get in to see a psychiatrist; if he wants to prescribe you something I think you should ask for Seroquel which will help with your insomnia as well as act as a mood stabilizer and antidepressant.
