    "Stripped Away"

I feel my spirit has been stripped away
Severed violently by life's cold machete
I see it flying away into a dismal sky
With the tattered wings of a fallen angel

Alone, in this jungle of confusion and self-destruction
I wait, for something, anything, to break the monotony
All I hear is a dead silence, interspersed with nothing

Then I realize, my fleeing spirit was a hallucination
I have nothing to connect me to others
That ghost was just a reflection of what had already happened
Perhaps years ago, I was a man
But today I see the empty crater within
