how often do you have them?
    every day?
a couple of times per week?
    a few times a month?

i don't get suicidal all that much..
perhaps one or two times a month
but have extreme mood swings quite often

    most of the week :(
Sometimes after reading A Course In Miracles, or seeing my therapist Dori, I won't have them for the rest of the day or even a couple days afterwards.

Passing thoughts multiple times in a day.
Serious considerations about once every four days.
Extreme thoughts with unhealthy actions like binge drinking, cutting, or some other form of abuse about twice a month.
Calm-creepy suicide with emotionless drive to end my life including writing notes, wills, and leaving numbers for whomever finds me...about once every six months.

For the past 16 years :(

    wow... i feel, oddly stupid
i mean, i know it's stating the obvious that people on here are mainly suicidal ... got that from the name of the forum
but i never knew how many of you actually thought about it every day, like seriously considering it.

It's really tough for people who aren't suffering suicide thoughts to understand how people can have them once a month, let alone the bleak reality of how often we deal with it. At one family intervention my brother in law said that he was interested in why I consider suicide an option. He didn't understand, and said that when he has a terrible day he never considers suicide.

I felt like saying, " Whenever you have a terrible day? What does your the condition of your day have to do with wanting to kill yourself!?"

It's just an ever present voice, that can best be described as a siren from Greek Mythology--always calling out.

I think that's why doctors say people who try to kill themselves once will always be at risk.

Not to bring anyone down or anything...

For me it's very spontanaeous. I will feel just fine for months at a time, then out of the blue I'm suicidal again. I'm still not sure what triggers it.

A couple of times a week normally for the last three years. But if it's a particularly bad week sometimes the thoughts never leave me.

I guess a couple of times a week, but not really seriously.

Depends upon what's going on. Bad week: 10 minutes between; basically any time I'm not properly distracted. Good month: none.
