    Thank you for not coming home at night
    You helped me to build independence
    Thanks for forgetting to hold me tight
    I've been able to hug like I've meant it
    Thanks for avoiding my "I love you"s
    I've learned not to fall too fast
    Thanks for tossing pictures I drew
    I found truth in the talent I have
    Thank you for making me scrub the tiles
    It's made my stomach much stronger
    Thanks for insulting me for long whiles
    I can tune out the pain much longer
    Thanks for shattering my spirit again
    I've used better 'SuperGlue'
    Thanks for disliking all of my friends
    I figured out which friends are true
    Thank you for buying revealing clothes
    You've taught me self-respect
    Thank you for making me wear those clothes
    I now know how to dress
    Thanks for telling me I'm worth naught
    I've avoided being naive
    Thank you for breaking up all I've got
    You've taught me what to believe
    Thanks for drinking yourself to violence
    I've learned when to lay low
    Thank you for walking around in silence
    You said all I needed to know
    Thank you for watching the abuse
    It's taught me to hold my own
    Thanks for following in the misuse
    I've learned not to be a clone
    Thank you for being a child of mine
    I've grown to be mature
    Thanks for denying my sister your time
    My love for her's grown pure
    Thanks for resisting my every cry
    I've learned to convert my tears
    Thanks for simply watching me die
    I'm now wiser than my years
    Thanks for laughing when I'm sad
    I know to laugh off my pain
    Thank you for taking all I've had
    You taught that I must work to gain
    Thanks for being such a wonderful mother
    Without you I'd be what you say
    "You piece of shit, you worthless fuck.
    You useless bane of day.
    I hate you and I wish you gone.
    You're so screwed up in the head."
    Thank you for being such a wonderful mother.

    Astounding poem!:eek:hmy: Is the subject going to see it? If it were me, I'd send it to the one who inspired it, but even if not sent, it's still incredibly telling. I'm sorry for the feelings which brought forth this wonderful, tho sad, piece of work.:sad:
