What makes you think McCain is the same as Bush? Because he is old and white?

John McCain gave a very sincere and uplifting concession speech. as to
him being like Bush, I don't know who inferred that in this thread anyway.
as far as Obama winning, it is a chance at something other than the same
old republican regime. some people slam Jimmy Carter and praise Reagan.
I always wonder why, or how that could be. what did Reagan do that was
so great? anyway, God help us all. the world is still run by politicians and
corporations, be they dems er pubs...

Then why does everyone talk about "more of the same" when they talk about McCain. When they talk about Obama they say hes going to bring change, whilst if McCain had won it would just be another 8 years of the same thing.

In four years people will be saying exactly the same about the democrats, such is the way of politics. At the end of the day the Joe Blogg's life is still going to be more or less the same as it was a few years ago, bar a few grey hairs and a wrinkle or too.

McCain's said that he voted on the same lines as Bush 90% of the time. I don't think he would have been the same though. I really liked McCain before his presidential run but he just seemed to change personality in order to get the support of the conservative base.

There isn't going to be as much change under an Obama presidency as people think, but it is going to be better than it would have been under another Republican.
  19. Woohoo!!! Yesss!!!

Oh Wait! That doesn't properly describe how happy I am. This might...

    Woohoo!!! Yesss!!!

    Alrighty. Lets see...

    1. Barack Obama is the president

    2. Joe Biden is the vice president

    3. Rahm Emanuel is the chief of staff

    4. The Democrats have the majority of the Senate

    5. The Democrats have the majority of the House

    6. Sarah Palin is being blamed by alot of Republicans for fucking up the election for John McCain

    7. George W. Bush soon will be out of the White House

    once again...

I still haven't come down from the cloud nine I was on as of late election night!!

I do not expect Obama to be all things to all people, or to institute all the changes he spoke of, but I truly believe my country is now headed in a better direction. I'm glad that the US is finally wanting to rejoin the rest of the world, instead of thinking it's a world unto itself - how arrogant.
