He opens his eyes in the morning Wishing he stayed asleep. He doesn't change his clothes He looks like a mess but Nobody will notice anyway. He walks on the bus Hearing whispers coming from the back He chooses his seat in the front Sitting all by himself The day carries on With every class being the same He does his work quietly Talks to no one They wouldn't understand him or his pain He sits alone at lunch Just like he has every day in the past Peanut butter and jelly his favorite He savors every bite This meal being his last The day finally ends and he goes home Wondering if anyone will notice He will be missing from school tomorrow The days to come and the weeks to follow. He writes a note to his mom Pouring out his love along with the tears He signs his name in blood. This is a pain that has haunted him for years He did it quick, a single shot is all it took that day To take away the life and the pain of a boy The presence of pain was what was left Now is the absence of complete misery and joy It could have ended differently If someone would have cared A wave, a little hello or a smile in the hallway Even someone sitting by him on the way home These are things they could have shared The whole school comes to his funeral As if they really cared. They cry as if they knew him When half the time, they didn't even notice he was there The following day, they'll go on with life, forget about the day The day one boy took his life, to take away his pain.
