    The Mind's Eye

Up one minute down the next
    The mind feels so vexed
    Myself I do not feel
Someone else has taken the wheel

Come closer and look into my eyes
The "windows to the soul" they tell no lies
The emotion you see lying there
    Is completely a blank stare

    Numbness fades, leaving darkness
An ancient dim light is the only harness
    Sharp daggers are plunged internal
Smiles are seen on the external

The tartness of life has been left on the tongue
The sting has been felt since very young
Up one minute down the next
    The mind feels so vexed
