    I am done.
I will shut off the lights,
    and allow the darkness
    to have its rights.

    I am done;
    I can no longer fight.
    I am tired and wrathful.
Now I bid you ‘good night’.

    Naked in isolation.

In my cell, four white walls of soundlessness
Telling the time only by guesswork.
    Indigo half-light says 5:20

    Gone past pleasure
    Gone past hope
    Gone past motivation
    Gone past pain
    Gone past sorrow

    I am numb
    I am soulless
    I am done.

Parched cracking skin peels from my fingers,
    almost as I watch.
No voice to cry with, I sit in the shell that is my body.

Like all shells, hollow echoing husk of a life.
Staring at nothing, and waiting to die.
Fear it not, for it is a knell...

I hope you know how gifted you are...such a deep understanding of things, written as a painter uses his/her brushes...thanks for meeting me is a wonderful place to have company...J

    Back to you Chris:

    My words help me breathe.
    I know I exist
because I see them on paper.

    Were my life to be
    as poignant
    as my words.

    I would live in light.

I never set out to write a rhymer, but noticed that it worked on accident...then it's like modern art (to extend the metaphor rather tenuously), chuck a load of paint at the wall and photograph the bits you like...

I stiffly trawl through archived scrawls,
dusting off the words with care.
They are my pride, and still my fall,
but gave me time and gave me air.

    Shouts from rooftops given voice,
yet none to read them, only I.
The writer vain, almost by choice.
But for fleeting moments, they let me fly.

    Another gift, Chris...thanks again

    One act of kindness.
    One warm embrace.
    A gesture, quite heartfelt,
    that's all it takes.
