    suicide’s sultry shadow
    soaks the sodden leaden
turf, now you are gone and
    decomposing, buried beneath

    the sacred soiled stolid
    earth, hanging from inside
    the boathouse, darkness cautions
    like an inverted lighthouse

    the pain we discussed
    in a drunken evening of
    hallowed trust stripped bare
    we lay there, I remember

    stroking your matted hair
    the public house had thrown
us out and so we found silent
    solace in one another, timeless

    diminished but warmly devout
    inebriated lonely longing loving
    but without a second thought
I threw you out, I am cursed

    you are immersed

    such regret
