Well I'm back already  funny story..

So I left an hour before the time I had to be there for the interview to allow for walking time.. little did I know that i walk faster then I thought. When I left to walk there it wasn't raining.. but about a third of the way there it started pouring! by the time I was half way there I was soaked.. nothing like walking in soaking wet jeans and a sweatshirt... oh well, wasn't about to let that bother me. I was wicked early so I decided to make a pit stop at dunking donuts for a coffee  and I took a little round about way of getting there... when it was about 10 of I walked in and asked for the guy I was supposed to talk to.. he wasn't there! so I waited in the office and talked to another guy for about 5 mins.. he took my name and number and said that the guy I was originally supposed to talk to would call me for another interview... so I left to walk home again! yay...

So we'll see how the second attempt goes.... hopefully I don't have to walk again... god damn jury duty lol

Thanks for the support!

Well theres two good things about it.

You got out and had a walk, some time out is always good. Know the place you have to go to and the people you are likely to meet so less anxiety.

Tis all good, hey, more chance to prepare right. Good luck.

eeeeeeeee.....

I start work tomorrow  well technically I start training.. but how much training could you possibly need at a farm stand/deli? I can't work in the deli since I'm not 18.. can't use the things to cut the meat  I'm ok with that.. not a fan of gross meat anyways lol. So I'll be in the farm stand... training to do what? "This is the way you stack apples.. make sure you have them stem up... because it would be bad otherwise" "Oh and this is how you put the bananas on display... you have to make sure they're facing the right way" well should be interesting to say the least..

I like fruit.. fruit likes me.. veggies are alright... I haven't done anything wrong to them... should work out just fine

day one down

Thanks for all the support.

A day full of trying to learn prices, how to slice the bread, package things.. restocking shelves.. knowing where things are, and where they go.. cleaning.. messing up the register.. constantly being in the way and wrong..

a good start don't yah think?

Jess, I work in a shop too. I started helping out in the shop Saturdays and at busy times like Christmas and Halloween when I was your age or younger. I know exactly where you're coming from. The amount of times i've rung in £1000 instead of £10 or rung in an item like four times. I've been using the same till for 3 years now and I still make mistakes...everyday.

You'll get better at working the till and knowing the prices, codes and where they are put. It just takes time. Even know when I build all the items, put them away, carry them on and off lorries I get confused and forget where such and such is or whatever that price is. Like 3 weeks ago I gave $100 discount on a $400 or so order. :P

It happens, you WILL get the hang of it but it will take time. On my first day in the construction job, I spent 9 hours cutting 40 bricks, 2 storeys off the ground. I ruined like 60 bricks before I got it right that day. When I left 2 years later I could do it in 10minutes if even that.

Don't be so hard on yourself.

oh I'm not worried about getting the hang of it. It may be crazy. and I will never be able to remember the pricing for a half gallon of milk to a full gallon lol. But everyone I worked with yesterday was really nice and told me if I have to ask 1,000 times that's ok... even some of them were asking the prices to each other. lol.

I've made my share of mistakes already. lol. Someone ordered boston bread.. cut thick. I took a loaf of italian bread and cut it thin... lol. Oh and dropped a couple of the bread after cutting them.. It's tricky, trust me lol, gotta cut it.. then pick all the pieces up in place and balance it on your hand while putting a bag on it.. lol I never thought bread could be this confusing but apparently it can be.. fun.

oh and closing time? how many times did I hear, while washing the glass in the store "How'd you like to come to my house and do my windows?" Too many times! So I told them if they're willing to pay me what I get at the store then suree why not. lol

ok.. I'll shut up

Thanks for the replies!
