Okay so I am trying to be all positive and make changes and do something with my life that will make the future better. All of this is good - only I am so sooooo tired. Always.

I have been to the doc and had blood test after blood test and I am on meds for my thyroid which are at the correct level so I shouldnt BE this tired.

I want to have the energy to learn new things - to socialise - to be the person I want to be but I am so tired after work that it is all I can do not to fall into bed as soon as I walk through the door.

What I am hoping is that someone might have ideas? Why am I so tired/what can I do about it? I get eight hours sleep - I work in an office... its not physically strenuous.

Are there foods I can eat that might help? Anything else I can do?

Any and all ideas welcomed. I want to be able to do this "new life" thing but I need the energy to make it work.

Thanks in advance for ideas and such :) :) :)

I feel the same way. I have so much to do and I always start out the day telling myself I'm gonna get so much done, just to loose all my energy after a couple hours. Even now I got a bunch of laundry that's not gonna get done just cuz I can't move.

This may sound crazy but eat a lime or have lime juice, like lemonade, it might give you a little boost.

I'm tired 24/7. Sleep became my hobby. Nothing else really interests me. Tired of eating too. Maybe I should live in a poor country so I can learn to appreciate what I have.

rule out the obvious - are you actually getting enough quality sleep?

also, depression can play nasty tricks with your energy - 2 years ago i couldn't sleep more than 2-3 hours a night - now i have to fight to stay awake after i get home

Thank you all. I know that depression plays havoc with energy levels etc and most of the time I really do get enough sleep.
I have decided that another trip to the doc is in order. Relinquish some more bloods and see what they say this time :/

I think a balanced diet really comes in to play on your energy levels, eating a good breakfast (not just a bagel or cereal) really helps for me. Things like eggs w/ cheese and whole wheat/fiber toast (no white bread, almost zero nutrients in it) with real preserved fruit jam gives me a lot of energy for the day, eating pasta, bananas etc. Also SlimFast shakes are great for energy especially as a breakfast replacement. You might also want to try some granola energy bars that are sold in tubs at Costco, they're delicious and very good for you. Even when I'm depressed I feel like these types of foods give me some energy to keep grinding through the day.

If you're desperate you can always take a 5 Hour Energy shot, I used to take them all the time at work and they're great. They don't make you hyper or fidgety like other energy drinks, it just gets you to a normal level of alertness and concentration when you're tired and there's no crashing from them. Hope it helps Freya.
