"people ask, 'how long do you have to stay sober?'
and my initial response is always like 'for the rest of my life!'
then I practically have a panic attack thinking about it.
    I was corrected,
and I've learnt to think when people ask me how long do I have to do this for, it's just for today.
All I have to worry about is today.
Just have to worry about today.
Today I'm feeling good :)" - direct link,
  2. Oh, that is great! I love it!!

Kind of explains why I personally prefer the term "in remission" as opposed to "recovering" (of course, to each their own...whatever works)

To me, remission better reflects an acknowledgement and profound gratitude for being able to 'be in the moment' (which I find enriching in and of itself). It does not necessarily mean healed, but a great relief for not suffering, and savouring it (and continuing to want it) - such as any person with an affliction might feel. Truly, in each moment, leading into each day (and since none of us - afflicted or otherwise - posssesses anything more than that)...

And it neither infers nor confers any guilt or shame - it is, to me, "fulfilling"...

    (just my 2 cents...)
