Trichotillomania is a disorder that causes people to pull out the hair from their scalp, eyelashes, eyebrows, pubic area, underarms, beard, chest, legs or other parts of the body, resulting in noticeable bald patches.

I have been suffering with this since i was 14, and i have previously posted about this but got very little response. so though i'd retry.

Anyone here suffer with this too? what do you find helps? where do you pull from?
I pull from eyelashes and scalp and pubic area.

I'm not sure. I like to pull hairs, but generally where I ordinarily shave. I seem to have an obsession with it of sorts, given that I prefer to remove rogue hairs with tweezers when I could shave them off much easier, and I also sometimes pull hairs in places I don't shave. Mostly I pull hairs off my face, from my underarms, nipple area, and pubic region; I only shave face and pubic region.

I used to pull out my eyelashes to the point where I had none left. What actually helped me was my husband slapping my hand away and admonishing at me every time my hand would go near my eyes. Sounds harsh, but I haven't done it for a few years now :) Tough love, I guess. I think the more people that you can tell about it (family, friends, etc.) the more likely someone will notice when you start doing it and stop you, because as I'm sure you know, once you start pulling, you obsess on it and just keep going. "Just one more" was my freakin' motto, but if you can somehow make yourself stop right away and find something else to do with your hands, then I've noticed you will tend to forget about it for the time being.

I have issues with this too, according to my doctor, it is part of my OCD. Its really embarassing and Im so scared it wont grow back. Ive been doing it for about 12 years. I do it mainly from the scalp. If you are struggling with pulling out from the pubic region, shave/wax that area so is no hair to pull. Thats what worked for me. As for the scalp, hat or ponytail helps sometimes.
