What does it mean when I cut myself and it is just totally numb?

I didn't do it on purpose, really... slipped while I was cutting some wood for a project-- cut my hand open.
It was like watching someone else cut themselves. I couldn't feel anything at all, except for the skin spreading apart.

I got really dizzy--- so my reaction was normal, but I just didn't feel any pain or stinging at all.
Went to the nursing station to get stitches- since it was pretty deep.
    I'm okay
    just a bit concerned...
I banged my hand off the car door earlier and that hurt- but getting cut didn't for whatever reason.

My husband cut his hand open at work once and didn't feel a thing until he got the stitchs. I think that maybe when it happens like that, that is sort of a shock to the system. I have heard similar things as well, so I think your reaction was pretty normal. IMO anyways.

Hope your hand feels better soon.
