TRT (Hormone replacement) for depression

I wonder how many of you have been helped or considered their hormone levels to be responsible for some of the depressive and weakness feelings you've experienced. It's well known stress and anxiety can take a toll on hormonal balance due to the cortisol and inflammation all a round the body, compromising so much of our health. Some people actually have this issue as the root cause for their problems, but many of us actually have it reversed, but in the end it will feed on itself...

I have a messed up sleep since having depression and anxiety hit me hard around my twenties, having experienced actual sexual dysfunction compares to what was like before. I really have times when I seem to have my hormones higher - some ways to tell, but waking up after sleep with "signs" of it (hope you get what I meant) - and I feel more confident and second guess myself much less. I feel like myself along.

Anyway, I'm considering this month spending some money on a doctor who specializes on this and doing this. Being a gym guy it also will help with my body and help me grow a better beard...

Remember me? Nice to see you again - although it is not for the best reason. Sorry you feel so low.
I think it is well documented that hormones have their impact on our mood and our mood to our hormones. Every woman with PDS knows what it is about and women in menopause know as well. Sometimes it might be a good thing to look up for hormone specialists.
But you know, when reading your post I also feel the need to say be careful with spending money. It might help but I also spoke to so many people who spent money in a free medical field without any evidence based grounding.
For depression it is well documented that a lot of things like healthy food and exercising and going for a walk and good talks to friends have an impact on hormones that balance the mood as well.

A better beard?

Stay safe! And take care for your money. Give it a try if needed but you are so young and it just might exist other ways to find balance again.
Cheers, Anne

Sure do! I left a message for you on your page when I came back here last year, but no response. How are you doing?

Don't remember much about our conversations, others then we both were in pretty dark places and talking about BPD but also some Nietzche at the time, since I believe you are from Germany, right?

I definetly understand what you mean, hence why I created this post, as it's possibly the most free from testamonials of people with potential bias on others places praising TRT and having serious depression problems. Although I don't think it's a huge issue like the supplement industry, it's a growing fad to jump on TRT, especially with people who weight lift.

I already exercise and eat healthy and a balanced diet. Like I said, I was better the last time checking the levels up, but it might have been on and excepcional day and the average that counts most would be lower then that, which for my age is low already on the higher test. Feels like with my propensity for stress my cortisol levels have really messed up my testosterone production and levels on my body from a young age. Even today people tell me I look younger then my age and it's definetly because of lower hormones! It has gotten better, but I believe I got to try and experience what might have been healthier levels if it wasn't for my messed up teenage years. I also really think if jt doesn't work as I want it to work, at least I will take advantage of the benefits of higher testosterone, like less fear, better body composition, better facial features - like a fuller beard, yep - better recovery, better health on many fronts and also can help on my IBS as I've seen it having links to know testosterone.

I am doing a more comprehensive test of my hormonal levels to show a specialist. I'll pay for a consultation and see what he tells me. Some people would go the route of doing illegal steroids, but I really want this for my health and want to be doing checkups and all. Although I can't deny I might try if doctors at least don't let me see how I feel trying this...

Cheers Anne. I miss your old avatar!

Hormonal imbalances can definitely play a big role in how we feel, both physically and mentally, so it’s great that you’re looking into options like TRT. It sounds like you're already noticing some positive changes, which is awesome! Best of luck with finding a doctor who can help you, and I hope it leads to even more improvements for you. Take care!

Hi. Thanks for the reply!

When I started training and losing weight at a low point I really started to feel better on every way. At that time I also developed IBS and it really messed my sleep up - probably in conjunction with the calorie restriction and possible overtraining at the time. At that time I also think my hormones really started to surfer even more, as I started having some signs of ED I hadn't seen before... This is why I really think TRT is the most feasable course, as the sleep quality will never be the same with this condition which lights my sleep and makes me wake up at least one time per night, at best.

Doing a last exam and then Will consult with a doctor to see if he also agrees with me. Today I'm feeling better and have been taking some new supplement in the meanwhile. I think one has helped before, but if the little it helped substantially improved my mood and energy then I can only imagine the optimal hormonal level for my age. At 14 I actually was the second best athletically in my classe, so I really think all the stress, anxiety and depression messed me up.

Thanks again.
