Twenty years ago I fell for you,
Ten years ago I married you
But 1 year ago on this exact same day
I watched someone take your life away.

I woke up on that faithful day,
    Hoping you were not away.
But all I saw was another tray,
With another note, for another day.

I closed my eyes and imagined you,
Your midnight hair, your eyes deep blue.

My eyes opened and I scanned the letter,
A simple Je t'aimerai toujours ended the letter
Meaning I will love you forever.

I dressed in clothes and got out of bed,
And with a smile I drove ahead.
I saw you walk across the road
And just seeing you made my heart overflow.

I started towards you and felt my heart stop.
Because blood covered your face, you were flat on the floor
I rushed to your side and gave a loud roar.

I looked at the man that ran you over
And gave him a look that he would remember forever.

Time stopped for me as you reached for my face,
And I saw your life disappear without a trace.
I begged for you to come back, to return my embrace.
But you just lay there, you didn’t embrace.

It’s been one year since that faithful day.
The day I saw someone take your life away.
On that day I take out that last letter,
That you gave to me before you went over.
I read the letter and let out a sob and a smile.

Because on that letter was a single line,
Je t'aimerai toujours was scrawled that letter,
Meaning I will love you forever.

Just wanted to say thank you Gemballs for the name and this continues from this one: http://suicideforum.com/showthread.php?t=94660 . Also, thank you for the people who wrote comments, it's what keeps me writing.

PS. The metres confusing because i'm not used to poetry, i'm more of a writing person, though poems seem to be...prettier?
