Thought I'd post this to see what people think virtues are.
Accepting others unconditionally allows them to feel at ease and be themselves. This creates a safe and secure environment whereby they can remove their masks and express themselves freely without fear.
Most of us would probably say that we want peace in the world, but so few of us (including myself) are ready to accept others.
“Royalty refers to an inner state of dignity and an attitude of service to humanity. Before taking charge of others, let me learn to rule my own heart and mind with love and compassion. Let me not focus on other people’s weaknesses, not demand anything of anyone, and always be available to support and encourage. A leader of this kind does not chase after power and position, or expect anyone to obey, yet others naturally want to follow.” - DJ
Great List of Virtues guys - I did not expect so many virtues - it's a great list.
Have a few more to add:
is such a lonely word. Everyone is so untrue.
Alright, I stop joking around. Virtues:
“With practice it is possible to create appreciative and compassionate thoughts; then I no longer need to indulge in resentment, bitterness or dislike. Training myself to act calmly and wisely offers enormous dividends. Let me talk to myself silently with love and encouragement, balanced with firmness, and like the wise old sovereigns of fairy stories, let me rule the inner kingdom of my mind with benevolence.” - DJ
The Boy Scouts among us will recognize these:
To which I'd add one more: Industrious
Eternal imprints: Silence and bliss.
Original imprints: Peace, love, joy, purity and wisdom.
Then on the field of action: All the virtues mentioned.
And here’s a few more:
Unity (Mind, intellect and memories working in harmony)
And plenty more.
When we are not in a physical body then there is only silence and bliss.
When we first touch matter we express peace, love, joy, and wisdom. This is our original and natural nature. This is a pure state of being.
When we come into relationship we express virtues.
In this state there is only happiness.
After a long time and due to a natural process the consciousness starts to change and we begin to acquire defects such as anger, jealousy, arrogance, greed etc.
All these negative traits are acquired and unnatural and can and will have to be removed.
Your original nature of peace, love, joy and wisdom is what you are searching for.
Many people have had a glimpse of their original nature and this is a life changing experience. Evolution theory can then be ruled out.
Virtue is something we can't ignore about ourselves. Once we've realised what it is, it is virtuous to be happy about it.
in others as well as in themselves!
Tolerence is in my opinion one of the greatest virtues,
it runs very closely with patience and acceptance.
Humans without these drive me crazy. They don't want to understand anything. I really don't see how you can go through life with such limited understanding, such lack of curiosity. 90% (at least) simply rely on their first impressions and ingrained stereotypes and never question a thing. Most of them know it too, they know their every opinion is based on 'gut feeling', what their parents told them, and other hogshit, but they still don't give a fuck.
