The watery tears fall silently from eyes
The smile fades as she cannot say goodbye
To linger would mean to stay
And she has to walk away

She cannot listen to false words of reason
She cannot hear the cries to reconsider
She refuses to do this to them, to herself
    And so she drifts away

Her heart hurts and her skin twitches
Her head feels heavy and low
Her throat is raw from fits of hysteria
Her cheeks sting from the salty flows

She’s afraid she will break, she cannot look back
In the future this will come again
And she’ll attempt it again, and fail yet again
So she runs away hiding her shame

She pushes the thoughts of the smiles and the bliss
Of the days that must come to an end
But she cannot depart, the one thing close to her heart
That she’s turning her back on a friend

Maybe some day she will look to the sun
And know that she’s done what was best
But at this moment in time with nowhere to run
She’s having to take one last test

A test of her faith and test of her strength
A test that could break her each day
But the real test it seems is to let go of her dreams
    And finally walking away

Thank you both. It was just a little thing I was writing during a rough time. My chicken-shitted self couldn't actually go through with the action.

Gives a new meaning to the phrase "my poems are just words, no action".
