will be like me massively disappointed and frustrated yet again for 2015, the prices are way way higher than the leaked figures. Especially the deductibles. Even on an income of $25 000 a year I would be paying at least a quarter of that ( which is pre-tax) for health insurance if I use it ie total of premiums/ out-of-pocket/hidden charges.

Had just got everything straight in my head, now I feel like screaming.

    Will this nightmare never end???

How are people supposed to cope with this?

I just got myself being positive again, but this is just way too stressful.

I don't recognize any of the doctors or hospitals, the 'platinum' plan I just looked at has zero in my area- I have to travel 25 miles + to use it?

I'd have to use ambulances to go to appointments- how is that supposed to keep costs down?

If anyone has any insight into how to make sense of all this, please let me know because if anything could push someone over the edge this could.

All I want is to be able to see a doctor- I'm not asking for a cure for cancer. How difficult should it be?

Well I've had an hour or two of howling at despair, but now I don't see any other alternative but to pack up and move to Europe and start over. This issue is really blocking any chance I have at recovery.
So another problem to work through.

I see in another post you said you have MS and often spend a week or more bedridden- why are you using OBamacare instead of medicare and disability? With an income of $25k your subsidy should be paying about 65% of the premium and a small portion of the deductible (and please do not think I am a fan of obamacare- it absolutely sucks and is 100x worse than the the old system of "no system" where at the very least I had decent insurance and was not paying for Dr out of pocket because none take the new insurance) - while my family income is a bit more than yours our costs are now absolutely ridiculous and Obamacare has meant an increase in over $5000 a year in costs for far worse of a policy, but at your income level while the choice in Doctors will suck like it does for everybody, now the premiums should not be too bad if you are using everything you are entitled to.

Before you think packing up and moving to Europe or Canada is the answer though you should reas a little about the healthcare issues people there have and when you mention one of your issues is choice understand that is based 100% on your zipcode there and you go to the DR that services your zipcode and specialist care is extremely rare so I would not be in a hurry to leave for that reason just yet....

'why are you using OBamacare instead of medicare and disability?'

I have suffered chronic illnesses all my life and NEVER used benefits- it's a big part of who I am to keep working and I also love what I do. I would fall apart if I didn't work. I would have nothing to live for, nothing to get out of bed for.

Obamacare does suck, especially that you have to drop your income to even buy it, but if I were on medicare/disability I wouldn't have much dr choice either.

I'm from England originally so familiar with UK/European healthcare, and it's way better than here but of course cost of living is high ( well it is lots of places here too )

I had a very down few days plodding through it all NYJmpMaster, it so frustrates me when I can't find sensible solutions to what must be common problems, and I've tried writing to politicians even the President- none of them care, they just put me on their fundraising request lists!
But it's no use banging my head against a brick wall, millions of people are in the same situation.

Feeling better for a week of not thinking about it and enjoying Thanksgiving with my son, but I do need to get on the webshite and pick a policy now...kind-of dread that, it wouldn't work properly last year, once all the immigration stuff gets entered it froze up. Hopefully it's fixed now.

I'm hearing horrible things about Obamacare and some postive things.

The message the government is giving out to middle class, you're screwed.

Gotta to be at the poverty level to get freebies or be filthy rich. It's a messed up system, I am considering going on disability to get free care for the rest of my life.

Isn't it terrible that we have to even consider that?!

I just feel like it's all jumping through hurdles- going through the fine print to check what I need/ might need is actually covered properly, going through the costs to work out if I can actually afford it, then going through who and where I can see doctors, are they any good etc. In the policies I'm looking at none of the doctors I've ever used before take obamacare, and it makes me wonder why.

And all this complication and deliberate confusion is so the businesses make more money than if I just paid a fee and whatever is deemed medically necessary or appropriate by a professional is covered.

This is certainly not what people voted for or thought they were voting for.

I can manage my life, my disability without resorting to benefits if I can find a way of purchasing the healthcare I need, I resent the fact that there's obviously an assumption that disabled people can get benefits so their right to work isn't paramount. But the complications in the healthcare provision make it very difficult, and especially since my illness like many others is triggered by stress- and it's enormously stressful to try to work it all out.

Spent two weeks reading as much as I can- where the website links work that is- and two hours on the phone; the young lady had no idea how to answer my questions, the website clearly wasn't designed with self-employment in mind...

Very frustrated, and looks like I can only afford the cheapest plan Platinum or I won't be able to get a surgery done I need; unfortunately the company website directory link does not work, and the lady could not help with that- she says I'll have to call the insurance company direct, so another day on the 'phone I suppose or on hold.

It looks pretty hopeless to be honest, hardly optimum care for me, it's just expensive Medicaid from what I can see- not a matter of finding good hospitals/doctors etc. just take what you're given.

    Very depressing.
