What am I missing?

For those of you for whom meds have worked, may I ask how? I mean how do they stop you from suicide? I have tried so many and none, other than benzos, have helped me. I don’t know what the feeling of one actually working is like so I am curious to know how one knows it is truly doing anything. Do you wake up one morning and just say ‘hey I feel better?’ Thanks.

Honestly in your situation I don't think meds will help much and you're too over reliant on them to work. Pills are not a magic cure. For me I've had to make significant life changes in order to help me feel better. I think you should concentrate more on therapy than meds.

You are correct as there is no chemical imbalance involved here. However, I will say that there has to be a med that helps alleviate the constant looping of thoughts.

Just an fyi....you are soooo correct. I need intense therapy....meds are actually making me worse...I need to go in a totally different direction....being a medicine guinea pig is not the answer.

I know my anti depressant (zoloft) helps my anxiety quite a lot but not the unresolved traumas. For trauma you need therapy. I do not think you will ever wake up and say ''hey, i'm better now that is in the past'' until you go to therapy, try different therapies if you have to until you find the one that relieves the most symptoms. It is not going to happen overnight. Get a specialised trauma therapist and start with building trust then changing perspective as, the way you think and expressing the thoughts and feelings and hopefully they will devise a plan, particularly for YOU, a personalised plan and you can work on it daily, but baby steps. :)

I do believe you can forgive yourself and let the past lie where it should- in the past.
