After reading and responding to a new friends post on their own fear, it made me think a lot about my own fears and wonder if others in the forum feel that fear drives their pain/desperation?

My fears are most definitely the driving force behind my suicidal depression and all of the many things that I do that make it worse.

    My primary fears:
    -Anger
    -Confrontation
    -Abandonment
    -Loss of Control
-Discovering* I truly AM "crazy" (like my mother)
-Discovering* I truly AM a terrible person
*(and having those who mean the most to me discover)

Not only do these fears keep me depressed and relying on the suicide "escape hatch", but they also drive me to act in ways that are ultimately harmful to myself, just to avoid being faced with those fears in the moment.

Does anyone else have fears that keep them in a state of despair and/or drives them to self-defeating actions?

That I'll get Alzheimer's, wind up a drooling old man, strapped to a wheel chair with a catheter or diapers.

Regret. The fear that I've let something great go by.
