What is your favorite fiction novel and why?

What is your favorite non-fiction book and why?

What quality does both have to offer in order to keep you attention?

My favorite fiction novel is Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four.

My favorite non-fiction work is Descartes' Meditations on First Philosophy.

Hmm. They both share the quality of questioning perceptions, in a way.

Fiction: The Goal by E. Goldratt

    Nonfiction: Einstein by W. Isaacson

When it comes to works of fiction, I like my books to keep enough action in the story to keep me wondering what will happen next. I also enjoy good scenery development through the characters' perspectives. When it comes to nonfiction, they need to be a subject I am interested in. If the work is more technical, I appreciate the clear definition of terms and variables.
