Right, like you mentioned Mel Brooks, who's one of my favorites but he slipped my mind when I was typing that out.

I didn't mention Brooks because he's a comedy genius, not strictly a 'comedian', which to my thinking is someone who does stand-up.

Woody Allen back when he was doing stand up. Steve Martin ditto, especially during his visits to Sat Night Live back in the 80s. Ditto Eddie Murphy. I was a big fan of SNL back in the 80s.

Today? Sometimes they are so profane that I can't watch them.
