Will the suicide hotline dispatch police or EMS if I call?

    Very unlikely, unless you already did something very harmful (such as taking an OD) before or while on the call.

    I think that most hotlines have a policy of not contacting anyone unless you consent to it.

    you can go to www.befrienders.org and find a hotline in your area. there may be a website listed associated with the hotline number, and they may have their policies listed there

    so far no one on this forum has posted evidence either way. I know if the counsellor thinks you're in danger they can get the supervisor to take over. i don't know about anything else
    any personal experience anyone?

    i've used the suicide hotline in ireland. they don't contact police or ems. just talk you through your feelings. i had a good experience with them.

    I'm pretty sure that most lines won't call the cops without your consent, but I suppose you could call, and before saying anything else, ask what their confidentiality policies are.
