wither away

I wrote this over a year ago.

    I have fallen
    Ever so hard
    Upon jagged rocks
    That once comprised
    Our soulful song
    Now a hard rock ballad
    Full of splintering shards
That wound me to the core
    Creating I love you scars
    As I cross my heart
And hope for my love to die
    Only to watch it grow
    As would a cancer,
    It survives!
    I begin to fade

    While the black sky curse
    Of a fast approaching
    And rising tide
    Leaves me bleeding
    And so alone
    As I am whipped about
    By unforgiving waves
    Left almost alive
    Barely breathing
    From the vicious beating
    That your crimson heart
    So willingly gave

    One more motive
    In the homicide of heart
I had tried for so long
    To protect and hide
    Only to fall for your
    Dark, brooding eyes and
    Always convincing smile
    My innocence the victim
    True love the promise
    Never quite given
    As your lack of action
    And far too many
    Empty words
    Murdered my trust
    And left this sacred love
    To wither away

    Oh, love, I have fallen!
    Now, grant me closure
    Some measure of solace
    As I wither and fade
    Left alone to die
    Upon the sharp rocks
    And hard tide
    Of a love not meant
    Not for always
    Let me fade!

    Oh, love,
    I wither away
