    For my 'ex'...

    You lured me in;
    With the promise of attention,
    In the form of discipline,
    You said I could be better,
    And you'd shape me.
    By whip and cane;
    You'd keep me from my habits,
    Fill my cravings for danger.
    You even tried to numb me,
    And what ails me;
    But I am all the wiser today,
    And I know something you will never learn:
    You can't cure a masochist with pain.

    I relate to this poem on several levels--both literally and theoretically. I crave pain for several reasons and have found that people who claim to be able to provide me pain which will allow me to never want 'bad' pain often do not understand pain desires are deeper than they can fathom.
