The child within bull

Just read an article about this child within it being the ego part of the brain at the end of it the statement was made that until one is whole or at peace with this inner child one will not be able to show compassion towards others who have suffered pain and are in a dark place.
Bull what a load of crap this statement is. Of course one who has suffered such pain and suffering is going to be able to show more compassion more understanding and not being at peace with one self doesn't matter one bit.
I hate articles that make statements like this. Statements that say because one is suffering and in pain they cannot really help others until help themselves bull bull bull

I don't agree with that at all. Many have not come to terms with "the child within" yet are very compassionate and understanding of the pain others are feeling. If this statement were true, then the peer to peer support we have here would not be happening and I know for some, it has made a great deal of difference. Of course, this is only my opinion.

I like to think I’m compassionate and understanding too-though not come to term with my own inner self, perhaps my caring for others is a way for me to avoid my inner self …the crap people right to get published!!

Yes in helping others it helps to not dwell on ones own past. The author is wrong in believing because one is not healed themselves they are unable to help others heal. I wonder if she is just speculating this and if she has ever herself been in the position of abuse I would expect one who has suffer would have more advice than one who has not suffered. Even if one has not confronted their own pain sometimes helping others in the same situation helps heal both in the process. Maybe she felt it was the blind leading the blind i don't know but im over it now she just hit a nerve a guess.
