I lost my job about a year ago and have not found another one. It is time for me to retire, and I should be doing that. But I really expected to be working for another year and since I didn't, I have fallen into debt. I am tying to get something going with online work but so far its not bringing in any money. Its a huge stressor. I may have to sell my car, and if I do that will make my life even harder.

I changed doctors recently and I have a lot of issues going on. My internist is changing my antidepressant. Last night I woke up at 3am and my mind was just swirling around all the problems. So I'm not sure if I am crashing because of the medication change or what. I have a number of health issues, including that I am now "pre-diabetic". Because of that I am going to be on a weight loss drug. But I don't know how much of it will be paid for by my insurance. I really want to lose weight, and the harder I try, the more I gain.

I've never been so isolated. I don't have a single friend I can all. Its gotten so that I hate going places by myself. Its been decades since I communicated with my family. My siblings have made me the family scapegoat. Its a pretty fucked up family. I do need a family... but it won't happen by going backwards.

There are so many things. I just want to stay in bed all day, but that won't help anything,

Please keep a good thought for me.

Hi Alice, I was at this point before I retired - a complete wreck. Took me a year to get stable again. What I understand from your post:

Changing an antidepressant can have a serious impact - check with your doctor.
Pre-diabetic - I have the same problem and changed my lifestyle again: no alc, no sugar, mostly salad and sugarless fruits, water with apple cider etc. All these things help a lot and you can control it.

Staying in bed is surely for a certain time o.k., so is to let things slip - but you have to get out of this. Start some sport, scale down, try not to think too much. Watch a nice movie...

Hi Alice

I had to early retire at 50 years due to mental health. It's a big change and adjustment, but its do-able.

I hope your med change settles out and you feel better.

Prayers for you and your situation.

Those are pressing issues going on, no wonder your mind is swirling. You're not alone when you're here: all of us are on your side @alice202 .

I hope your sleep is better, for a start. I'm glad you're seening a doctor, and I hope they are someone you trust. Did the MD give you thorough information about what you can do to help counteract the pre-diabetes?

Thanks black sheep 007

I do trust my doc. She is taking me off citalopram and onto cymbalta. The last two days I am sleepless, headachey and have no appetite. I am supposed to increase the dose on Friday but I can't do it if this keeps up. I left a message today.

I think I can manage the pre-diabetic issues if I get more exercise and lose some weight.
