I always save stuff I wish I could use, most of the time i save it until it expires or gets damaged and then I cant use it anyway but I dont want to throw it away because of guilt. I saved all my gift cards and never spent them and ended up losing them. I never redeemed several toyrs r us gift cards I got when I was little. I always save money and dont do anything with it. Whenever popele give me anything I dont use it and store it away. I now have to throw away a lot of nice food I was storing away because of a bug problem and it hurts that I didn't eat the nice food I had. things havent been scarce for me in over a decade but I still havent adjusted. I deprive myself and convince myself there is a better time to use things other than right now. It leads to so much waste, which is a mental nightmare for me and I probably dont even have to say why. It's so hard... I wish I could get better but it doesn't feel possible. Every time I'm confronted with my disordered way of living I convince myself I will change but I haven't been able to. I could have enjoyed so much in life but I refused to because of these internal arbitrary rules I put on myself that dont even work out in the long term because I even save stuff prone to spoilage. This feels different than traditional hoarding which I dont suffer from as much and have better control over. I have to throw so much stuff away and I am in anguish looking at all the healthy and delicious things I had that I didn't eat.
Being poor really messed with my head a lot. I try so hard to change but so far I haven't been able to. I feel so awful having to throw things away and it just feels like a cruel punishment that I might not even be able to learn from.
