I'm considering getting help to going back to NSW, Australia. I have permanent residency but it is out of date. I cannot get help from my husband, (by legal definition only, now estranged). If anyone knows about legal issues surrounding immi matters, plese let me know. Others, please do not chime in as I don't want to discuss the emotions or opinions, just practicalities. I need to go home.

I'm from the UK but have permanent residency in the US. So, options are going to vary. But, I have looked into moving to Australia before. The Australian embassy is the first place where you should start. Explain your situation and ask them what are the steps you need to take to reinstate your permanent residency. Another option could be getting a job that will sponsor you to return. Then you can go through the process of making that permanent. Hope this gives you somewhere to start.
